Movie Review: Ender's Game

So lets talk about ENDER'S GAME. First...it was great seeing Harrison Ford back in space. (lol) He's just bad ass with his 'tough love' attitude in the movie. I totally agree 100% how he handled Ender - - ya gotta prepare these kids for an alien invasion!! (lol)
The movie wasn't at all what I expected - - I didn't read the book so I didn't know it was only going to take place at the battle school. But don't get it twisted people - there's action in this baby...some CRAZYYY battle scenes. I thought the cast was on point - - it was pretty cool seeing some of the guys on the big screen...especially after meeting some of them at this year's Comic-Con.
I really thought that the 'bigger' name cast members were going to carry this movie but I was wrong. Once again - these kids did great. But one thing 'kind of' bothered me - - was it just me...or was Asa Butterfield (Ender) a little TOO robotic? Was he like that in the book. I mean, I know he's supposed to be a super genius kid...but...I don't know.
I did get some thoughts from John...the dude who was supposed to watch it with me and here's what he had to say.
Coming from a standpoint of reading the books, the movie was a little disappointing. I felt like the movie was way to short to the point where Ender's struggles were to rushed. You couldn't sympathize with Ender like you do in the book. The battle room scenes were really really cool. The special effects were amazing! The movie showed how Ender was a genius and it displayed how smart and witty he was. I know it's kind of hard to expect child actors to live up to an adult actor but I think they all did a really good job. I like that they slightly hinted for a sequel. From loving the books so much, it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth because I expected it to be just like the books but for someone that hasn't read the book you will love it!
...maybe I should try reading the books.
I give ENDER'S GAME... 4 out of 5 popcorns!‘Ender’s Game’ Signing at Comic-Con 2013
