I still find it funny Paramount pushed GI Joe back to next year, claiming "3D conversion." Yeah…ok… It would be a lot more of a respectful move if their reps said:
“Well, with the force behind Avengers, Dark Knight Rises & Spider-man… truth is we can’t compete, aside from poor test-screenings. Therefore, we’ll leave it for a dump-month like March where we made sure nothing else that may be a threat is opening.”
Plenty of rumors are flowing around in the world of the net regarding Tatum dying too early in the film, re-shoots having been demanded involving HIM and The Rock, pacing etc..
On the flip: Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Man of Steel are due to be released next year (more than likely late spring/early summer), which also clarifies March (Dump-month) being selected for its release.
I’m not knocking them for it. Business-wise it’s smart, however, it speaks volumes regarding their faith in the movie. Therefore, to come out and say it’s due to “3D conversion” is just too funny, sketchy and ridiculous – it doesn’t take a year to do that.
