Schindler’s List (1993)

Winner of 7 Oscars, Schindler’s List takes you on an emotional journey through one of the darkest periods of human kind. The movie is based on the true story of a Nazi businessman Oskar Schindler, who saved the lives of over 1,100 Polish Jews from meeting their demise at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Steel Magnolias (1989)

Another movie that brings tears to your eyes is Steel Magnolias. The film was nominated for an Oscar, and is built around the close-knit relationships of six women who frequent a beauty shop located in a small Louisiana town.This heart-wrenching movie will make you laugh and cry while enjoying the engaging cast which includes Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah and Julia Roberts.

Old Yeller (1957)

There’s something about dogs. They have a way of making you fall in love with them. That’s exactly what the young boy, Travis Coates does in the classic film Old Yeller. Over time, he grows to love the scruffy dog that wandered into his life. A heartbreaking film, no matter how many times you see it.

Terms of Endearment (1983)

The winner of 5 Oscars, Terms of Endearment beautifully captures the ups and downs of life. The natural flow of the movie and realistic portrayal of the family at times has you forgetting that you’re even watching a movie. It’s a wonderful film that provides plenty of opportunities to laugh and cry.

An Affair to Remember (1957)

Fate gets in the way of true love in this classic film.Brilliant chemistry between Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr make this one of the greatest love stories on film. This film was the inspiration behind Sleepless in Seattle and other several other modern-day romance films. Be sure to have tissues on hand for the ending of this one.
