Earlier this week an anonymous actress sued iMDB for $1 million for revealing her age on the film data site. But if it goes to court a judge may force her to reveal her identity, making her damned if she does or damned if she doesn’t.
The actresses filed her lawsuit against parent company Amazon, claiming they violated her privacy by publishing private information she provided when she initially signed up for the service. Age discrimination is ever present in the entertainment world and the actress would have to prove loss of earnings from IMDB’s age publication.
Amazon will no doubt push the motion that the actress will have to disclose her identity, hoping she will drop the charges. The alternative is full publicity and a media circus. Perhaps Amazon has it in the bag.
IMDB have often caused wrath with publicist and agents in flatly refusing to remove ages.
Now the guessing game is on. Check out Gawker. Who do you think it is?
