New Year’s Eve is the time for romance, laughter, friendship and hope for the New Year. A few of the movies that commemorate the night and serve as a wonderful way to ring in the New Year are listed below. Be sure to share the movies you like to ring in the New Year with in the comments below.

1.       When Harry Met Sally – Harry and Sally discover they really love each other on New Year’s Eve.

2.       The Godfather, Part II – One of the movie’s most memorable scenes takes place on New Year’s Eve.

3.      Sunset Boulevard – All dressed up for New Year’s Eve party, William Holden expects a big party, but finds another surprise waiting for him.

4.       Money Train – A heist in the movie takes place on New Year’s Eve

5.       Sleepless in Seattle – A romantic comedy with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan with Christmas and New Year’s Eve scenes.  

6.       Bridget Jone’s Diary – Start the New Year off with some laughter. In this movie, Bridget Jones is ready for a fresh start at the close of a New Year’s Eve party.

7.       New Year’s Eve – The film follows an all-star cast which includes Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Belushi and Jon Bon Jovi as they prepare for New Year’s Eve in Times Square.

8.       Four Rooms – Four intertwined stories all take place on New Year’s Eve.

9.       Trading Places – Eddie Murphy is at his finest in this comedy. On New Year’s Eve, Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd’s characters trade place with the film villians to execute the first phase of their revenge plan.

10.   Holiday Inn This classic film stars Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Virginia Dale. The Inn opens on New Year’s Eve.

11.   200 Cigarettes – Kate Hudson, Ben Affleck, Janeane Garofalo and others play a group of New York singles on their way to a New Year’s Eve party.

12.   In Search of a Midnight Kiss – An award-winning indie, this film follows Wilson (Scoot McNairy) in his quest to find love as the New Year approaches.

13.   Boogie Nights  Ringing in the New Year does not go so well for Little Bill (William H.Macy) who winds up killing his wife, her boyfriend and himself.

14.   Strange Days – Directed by Kathryn Bigelow and co-written by James Cameron, this science fiction thriller has an ex-cop finding himself in danger on New Year’s Eve.
