Lil Miss Movie reviews DARK SHADOWS!

Director Tim Burton is back with a dark and edgy comedy starring his favorite actors Johnny Depp (with an accent) and Helena Bonham Carter (with no accent), along with Michelle Pfeiffer (dang, does she still look good), Eva Green as the witch Angelique Bouchard and  the waif-ish love interest Bella Heathcote. The kid stars are Chloë Grace Moretz (Isabelle from Hugo) and Gulliver McGrath (also from Hugo, as young Tabard).

Here’s the storyline: An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection. dark-shadows-poster.jpg?w=202&h=300

The movie was a little slow.  While the movie was funny, it wasn’t THAT funny. I don’t see myself watching it over and over again. The soundtrack was awesome, of course. Barnabas’ old Englishe was commendable, and he had some of the best insults I’ve heard in quite a while. Although it  has “comic horror violence” I guess I wasn’t expecting actual violence, but there was. Expect the “sexual content” as well, I wouldn’t recommend this movie for the kids, because it’s definitely PG-13.

This isn’t the Rum Diary?

DARK SHADOWS is in theatres May 11, 2012. It is 1 hour and 53 minutes long. It’s rated PG-13 for comic horror violence, sexual content, some drug use, language and smoking.

So what do I think?

If you like Tim Burton movies, or vampires, or the 70s, you’ll enjoy it. Is it the best movie ever? No, but it’s a good time.

What do you think?
